Card Swap?

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

I wanted to do a Mother's Day card swap but I really had no idea that it was so early in May. You'd think I would be a little more in touch considering that this is the first Mother's Day of my life as an actual mother.  Whoops.  Anyway...how about a birthday/thank you/blank note card swap?  I'll leave it open at this point.  If you're interested in participating, your cards must be Gocco'd and have an appropriately-sized envelope.  I'll figure out the logistics once I figure out how big or small this will be.  The ideal situation would be for each person to send in 5 or so multiples of the same card, and receive 5 or so different cards to use throughout the year.  If you are interested, email me at: paperdaystudio(at)gmail.com and let me know what type of cards you have (bday or thank you.)  I'll respond back to each of you by May 10th.  Oh and let me know your location, too.  Happy Day!

Speaking of using photos to create masters: check out Lucy Bowler's wheat images printed on fabric and paper.  Lucy hails from down under and has a Made It shop.

Tips and Tricks: convert a photo into a master

Thanks to Karen Stiehl Osborn for a great tutorial about how to make a photograph into a black and white image to master.  You can find it on her blog: studio notes.

I'm working hard right now to get ready for the savegocco.com re-launch.  The new site will have the same great stuff as the old, with forums too and lots of fun links.  Stay tuned...

Gocco Daily Fix from elsie*cake

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Gocco and Polaroid.  Together forever....on fabric.  Elsie*cake is the creator of this loveliness. These "swatches" are part of her new art journal kits.  If I already hadn't bought myself so many birthday presents, this kit would have definitely made the cut.  Guess what else?  She's also got a blog with lots of pretty things, inspiration and eye candy.  Charming.

It's a Done Deal

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

I called to order the Photo EZ kit today.  I was concerned about what size to order.  The agent at circuit bridge was very helpful and explained that I could use either size kit with Gocco.  I decided to go with the larger one so I won't be limited by size later on.  I also had him throw in some stencil pro sheets for good measure.  Both are high resolution 200 mesh count--the same as Print Gocco.  I'll report back on how they both work when they arrive.  Wish me luck!

Gocco Daily Fix from Creatively Spun

Monday, April 6, 2009

Flickr find!  I like cards too, guys!  This one really struck my fancy.  Cute colors.  My favorite part is the little butterfly's swirly path.  Creatively Spun is a design firm out of New Jersey.  It looks like a stationary line is planned to launch in May.  Good luck!

I'll be the Sucka Test Rat

I've decided to go ahead and order the starter kit for Photo EZ and see how it works with Gocco.  I'm not sure if I should order the mini or larger kit size.  I'm going to phone circuit bridge during business hours tomorrow and see if I can get some straight answers.  Has anyone tried this yet?  I'd love to get some early feedback.

Don't you want to find out?

Gocco Daily Fix from Megan Auman

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

One of the best things about Gocco is it's versatility in application.  You can print on: napkins, doilies, glassine, and paper bags.  Megan Auman is using her Gocco to print these bags as part of her four-week marketing campaign for her cozy/cuffs.   This lady is talented.  She has everything in her shop from pendant light fixtures, to Gocco prints, to jewelry to, well, cozy/cuffs.  The shop is extremely cohesive and focused because of Megan's use of color and design.  Everything is a shade of grey/black and includes her signature cluster leaf motif.  So charming.  This one's going places.  I can't wait to hear how the 4-week marketing plan unfolds. Good luck!
